With the new year on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about how you’d like your bathroom to look and feel.
For me, next year’s trends are all about character – spaces that feel personal, work hard and still look beautiful.
From statement shower niches and heritage details to pattern-drenched walls and earthy greens, here are the four looks I expect to define bathrooms in 2027, and how to bring each one into your own space.
1. Statement shower niches

Storage is getting a glow-up.
We know customers are looking for ways to make their spaces work harder, and that’s why I think we’ll see many more shower niches next year. They’re a clever way to maximise storage without compromising on looks, giving toiletries a stylish, built-in home.
They’re also the perfect place to get creative with contrasting colours, tile layouts and materials, so the niche becomes a feature in its own right.
How to get the look
Let the niche stand out.
I’m expecting to see more niches finished in glossy or richly veined tiles that contrast with the surrounding walls, as this naturally draws the eye and adds depth.
If you prefer a subtler approach, use the same tiles in a different layout. Herringbone or double herringbone gives the shower a more bespoke appearance and a lovely sense of movement.

2. Heritage bathroom styling

Drawing on the charm of period properties and country homes, heritage styling brings a sense of nostalgia to the bathroom.
I think part of the appeal lies in the craftsmanship and refined elegance of older homes. It’s a comforting reminder of slower, simpler times.
It’s less about a full period makeover and more about small, decorative touches that add warmth and character.
How to get the look
Start with a pedestal basin and soften it with a sink skirt.
Sink skirts are one of my favourite ways to bring this look in, as they lend a softness to modern bathrooms that can sometimes feel slightly stark.
I’d opt for delicate florals or checks, paired with aged brass fixtures.
Finish with crosshead or lever taps and vintage-inspired wall lights for an authentic look that brings the whole scheme together.

3. Pattern-drenched bathrooms
Pattern drenching takes one repeating design and carries it across walls, floors and other surfaces for a bold, immersive feel.
We’ve already had a glimpse of it in Stacey Solomon’s orange-striped bathroom, and I predict it will be at the forefront of bathroom décor in 2027.
Stripes in particular are a timeless way to add visual interest without worrying about the scheme dating as tastes change.

How to get the look
Carry the pattern across the walls and into the shower for a sense of continuity. A frameless walk-in shower keeps the pattern visible all the way through. My tips:
I love these linear patterns in bold greens or deep reds. Balance them with understated cabinetry and slimline handles so nothing competes with the pattern.
Vertical stripes suit smaller bathrooms, drawing the eye up to make ceilings feel higher.
Horizontal stripes help narrow rooms feel wider.
4. Earthy greens

Green is set to be one of 2027’s key bathroom colours. With Benjamin Moore naming Webster Green its Colour of the Year for 2027, and Dulux choosing Soulful Sage, it’s clear nature-inspired shades aren’t going anywhere.
I think green is particularly well suited to bathrooms, where its connection to the outdoors creates a calm, restful atmosphere.
Rich olive and moss greens feel traditional and heritage-inspired, while softer sage tones are ideal for a fresh, understated look.
How to get the look
What I love most about colour trends is that you don’t need a full renovation to try them.
An olive or forest green statement bath creates a striking focal point, and it works beautifully with aged brass.
For a smaller change, try green furniture, a green radiator or towels in complementary tones to tie the scheme together.
Bring 2027 into your bathroom
Whether you’re planning a full refresh or a few small updates, I think 2027 is the year to add character in a way that feels personal to you.
Start with one idea, whether that’s a statement niche, a heritage detail, a bold stripe or a splash of green, and build from there.
