Any project involving interior design takes quite a lot of time. Some of the major things which contribute to project completion on time are – the dedicated labour, sufficient budget, and supply of materials, co-operation between client and designer and the likes. We have listed some of the key steps involved in achieving a successful interior design.

  1. Know the client requirements

The most crucial step in designing is to know the client’s requirements. Spend quality time with the client – You could probably schedule the client meeting based on the available schedule. Ask questions about the number of dwellers in the house, the number of kids and pets, their background and their lifestyle. Most importantly ask about the budget and timelines. All this will help you to deliver a successful project.

  1. Project site visit

The second step in the interior design process is the designer visiting the client’s home. This can be a detailed step to gather as much of information as possible – like taking photos and measurements of space to jot down electrical outlets, bulkheads, registers, mantels, hearths, door swings and more. The main intent is to understand the architectural style and other details like the flow of natural light and the flow of space etc.

  1. Effective Planning

This step involves designer making a clear representation of client idea on papers. It can be line drawings, 3d visuals or visual representation. The main aspects of size, height, width, function are taken into considerations. Once this plan view is ready, a follow-up with the client is arranged – to agree upon the view plan proposal. Any suggestions or changes can be done at this stage to avoid problems and confusions in the future.

  1. Design presentation

This step is the most important step to decide the materials, the palette of colours, textures, build details and finishing details. The designer can choose the right fabrics, colours, paints, lamps, rugs and other accessories. This step also involves furniture design details like – the type of wood or ceramic or metal and the finishing style etc. All these samples are then gathered and put together in the presentation to give the client a clear visual of designed home.

  1. Ultimate presentation

The final presentation includes information about size, fabric, wood, quantity and price in detail. This helps the client get the clear estimate of the design and also helps him or her picture the design more clearly. Once everything is finalised, the designer and client decide on payment mode, timeline, installation, delivery and setup. If the client agrees upon arranging any labours like painters or carpenters – the designer can guide accordingly. The main intention here is to run the project smoothly with no complications and hurdles.

  1. Successful Implementation and Final Dressing

Successful implementation of the proposed design plays a major role in delivering the victorious project. This can be achieved with the flexible team of contractor, traders, suppliers and labours. The final dressing of client’s new home includes new flooring, new window treatment, fresh paint, new furniture, new woodwork, aesthetic artwork and many other accessories.

A successful design directly reflects on the customer satisfaction and that is what matters by the end of the day!
