Dark cabinets covered nearly every wall of this kitchen, surrounding a stainless steel double oven, gray countertops, and a large center island. Long metal handles stood out against the near-black doors, while pale wood-look flooring provided the only warm contrast.

Three green paint samples appeared on the cabinet doors before the transformation began. The homeowners wanted to bring more color into their new home without replacing the existing cabinetry, and those test patches offered a glimpse of what the kitchen could become.
The team at @refreshedandrefurbishedmb painted the cabinets Sherwin-Williams Dried Thyme, a muted green with gray undertones. White countertops replaced the former gray surfaces, while the original cabinet layout, stainless steel appliances, and metal handles remained. The homeowners still had plans for a new island and backsplash when the photographs were shared.
Near-Black Cabinets Covered the Original Kitchen

The original kitchen had near-black shaker cabinets surrounding the stove and sink, with matching doors covering the center island. Gray marbled countertops extended across the perimeter and island, while white walls separated the upper and lower cabinetry.
Two green paint tests interrupted the dark finish beside the stainless range. One covered most of an upper cabinet door, while another appeared on a lower door to the left of the stove.

From the opposite side, tall cabinets framed the refrigerator area beside a white pantry door. Crown molding ran across the upper cabinets, with long brushed-metal pulls on the doors.
The green samples stood out against the existing finish, showing how much lighter the chosen direction would be.
Green Paint Replaced the Dark Cabinet Finish

The stove wall shows the original arrangement before painting, with a stainless range hood beneath the upper cabinets and a double oven below. Dark lower cupboards continued around the corner toward the sink.

Sherwin-Williams Dried Thyme now covers the upper cabinets, drawer fronts, and lower cupboards. The former dark finish has been replaced with a muted green, while the original shaker door profiles remain.
White countertops with faint gray veining take the place of the darker surfaces. The wall behind the stove remains white, with no new tile backsplash installed at this stage.
Existing Stainless Steel Appliances Stayed in Place

The tall cabinetry beside the refrigerator has the same green finish as the cooking area. The white pantry door and gray plank flooring remain visible from the dining space.

The stainless steel double oven and range hood stayed in their original positions. Silver bar pulls were retained across the doors, while wider drawer handles matched the cabinet hardware already in place.
The repaint also covered the crown molding and cabinet bases, connecting the upper and lower sections through one color.
White Countertops Changed the Sink Area

The sink wall has white countertops extending from the corner to the end of the cabinet run. A stainless steel dishwasher sits beneath the counter, while a double-basin sink remains below the window.
Four drawers occupy the far end of the base cabinets, providing storage beside the dishwasher.

The upper cabinets extend toward the window, with the corner unit retaining its angled front and crown molding. A small lamp, plant, and bowl of tomatoes sit on the counter beneath it.
The Original Cabinet Layout Remained

The before-and-after comparison shows the change from near-black cabinets and gray countertops to Dried Thyme and white surfaces. The cabinet doors, room layout, flooring, and appliances remain recognizable.
According to the refinishing team, the homeowners plan to replace the backsplash and install a new island as the renovation continues.
