He Sprayed the Black Kitchen Cabinets Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige and the Kitchen Took on a Custom-Built Look

Black cabinets with thin white outlines covered both sides of this kitchen, surrounding white countertops, a stainless refrigerator, and a worn wooden table. Every cabinet door had a contrasting border, while dark hardwood floors and the table added more brown tones to the room.

Replacing the cabinets would have meant removing tall storage, glass-front cupboards, and built-in appliance housings. Instead, the renovation kept much of the cabinetry and changed its finish, while one part of the kitchen received a more substantial redesign.

Instagram creator @pezzottipainting sprayed the cabinets with Centurion Wood Coatings 400 Series tinted to Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige. The black finish disappeared beneath a warm greige shade, while the cooking area gained a large white range hood and new cabinet sections. The homeowners kept the dark wooden table and wood flooring, making the before-and-after contrast even more apparent.

Black Cabinets With White Outlines Filled the Original Kitchen

The original kitchen had near-black cabinet doors with narrow white outlines tracing each recessed panel. White crown molding ran above the upper cupboards, while long silver handles finished the doors and drawers.

A stainless refrigerator stood beside a cabinet wall with glass-front storage. White countertops lined the room, with a dark wooden table occupying the center instead of a fitted island.

The close-up shows the thin white borders running around each upper cabinet panel. The lines follow the rectangular door frames, creating a sharp contrast against the black finish.

The cabinets extended into the corner above the countertop, with matching trim across the lower storage.

The Cooking Wall Received More Than Paint

During the renovation, the cooking wall had unfinished wood cabinet fronts beside the gas cooktop. The wall above the stove was exposed, with an opening left for the new range hood beneath the skylight.

The photographs show changes to the cabinet arrangement around the cooking area, rather than a paint-only update.

The completed cooking wall has a large white range hood with a curved upper section and broad lower molding. Narrow vertical paneling covers the wall behind the gas cooktop, while new cabinet fronts extend on both sides.

The stainless built-in oven and microwave remain in their tall housing to the left.

The progress photographs show cabinet openings covered with plastic, countertops protected by masking material, and blue tape marking the surrounding surfaces.

A painter uses spray equipment to coat the cabinet frames, with the doors removed from their original positions.

The refinisher used Centurion Wood Coatings 400 Series in Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige, replacing the black finish with a lighter color.

The original black cupboards surrounding the sink now have a pale greige finish. Matching paint covers the upper doors, lower cabinets, and crown molding.

White countertops remain beneath the window, with the brass faucet and farmhouse-style sink left in place.

The new hood has a white finish that separates it from the painted cabinetry, while the dark wood flooring remains beneath the cabinets.

Before refinishing, glass-front cabinets stood beside the stainless refrigerator, with black frames and white outlines matching the rest of the kitchen.

The lower cupboards had the same dark finish, while open shelving occupied the narrow section beside the doorway.

The finished refrigerator wall has pale painted cabinets with glass doors above the counter. Small metal knobs replace the long pulls on several doors, while matching cup hooks hold mugs beneath the glass-front storage.

The open shelving beside the refrigerator remains, providing space for cookbooks, bowls, and other kitchen items.

The after photograph shows the original wooden table between the two cabinet runs. Its dark, worn top and turned legs contrast with the pale cabinetry and white countertops.

The table retains its position in the kitchen, with room to walk around it toward the adjoining dining area.

From the opposite side, the refurbished cabinets surround the refrigerator and glass-front storage. The wooden table remains in the foreground, while the original hardwood floor continues beneath the furniture.

The before-and-after photographs show two different approaches to the same kitchen. Black cabinets with thin white borders gave the original room a bold, high-contrast finish. Accessible Beige replaced those dark surfaces with a softer tone, while the new white range hood changed the cooking wall.

The worn wooden table still stands in the center, with dark hardwood floors and white countertops connecting the old and new designs.

Would you have kept the black cabinets with white trim, or do you prefer Accessible Beige? I think the new color works better with the dark wooden table.
