Baking soda and vinegar – the ultimate combination
Baking soda is a miracle worker. Even though every home has it, not many people know its multi-purpose nature. First of all, you can use it to clean the oven (without the self-cleaning hassle and chemicals spreading around your kitchen) – and here is how you can do it easily – with this WellnessMama recipe.
Organic vinegar in combination with undiluted white vinegar can be used as a natural cleaner for mopping floors, window cleaner or as a disinfectant for kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
If your drains are starting to become slightly sluggish, you can use a combination of baking soda, vinegar and water to unclog or prevent all possible mishaps – without having to use toxin-rich chemical products! All you need is ½ cup of soda, and the same amount of vinegar, which you should pour into your clogged drain. In order to prevent inhaling the mixture, cover it with a wet cloth, wait for it to work for 5 minutes and then flush it down with boiling water.
- Regular cleaning – Regular maintenance is better than taking your carpets for chemical cleaning every three months. Besides spending a lot of money, this type of cleaning can cause serious allergies or breathing disorders, so it would be better to vacuum your carpets at least once or twice a week and prevent the formation of firm levels of dust and dirt on them.
- Leave your shoes outside – We bring along a lot of outside dirt and dust on our shoes, so make sure to leave them outside (or in the shoe closet if you do not want someone to steal them), and so as to avoid making your socks dirty – use slippers when moving around the house. This way, you will leave city dirt outside and enjoy all the benefits of a clean home.
- Natural air fresheners – Even though occasional sprays of essential oil cannot hurt your health, constant exposure to them (and other scented air fresheners) can cause more damage than help. If you want an all-natural air freshener that will clear the air AND produce fresh scents – bring home plants in and enjoy their natural production of oxygen and smell. Plants such as bamboo and spider plants work as anti-pollutants, as well. And do not forget to water them regularly!
- Unclutter – The key to a happy and clean home is to unclutter it. Take out everything you did not use for at least two years, including furniture! If there are big things you cannot do by yourself, you can ask Rubbish removal men for help and they will put your needs on the first place.
As you can see, there are simple and easy ways of removing dirt and bacteria from your home without having to use toxic chemicals which can damage your health. Be free to share your thoughts on them or give us your magical home-made cleaning recipe in the comments section below.
